Archer Danger Zone Music Video

I still meet people who have not watched Archer, or maybe a better way to phrase it – I have still met people who haven’t even heard of Archer.  Can you believe it?  What’s that?  You have no idea what show I’m talking about?  Yes, it’s a television show; it airs on FX, and the next season is coming in two months this January.  If you like sarcasm, voice-overs from Saturday Night Live actors (from when that show was actually good), and James Bond-type spy/secret agent stuff, then Archer is right up your alley.  It is absolutely hilarious, and one of my favorites; the next season cannot come soon enough.  As a teaser for the upcoming season, FX just released the hilarious music video spoof you see above from the movie Top Gun’s most-memorable soundtrack tune, Danger Zone.  This is a must-see, and so is Archer this coming January.

Britney Spears Breaking Bad Bitch Remix Video

I may be the only person on the planet who has not watched AMC’s award-winning “Breaking Bad”, but not because I don’t want to – the show is next up on my Netflix Digital personal-catch-up-marathon list, and I’m excited.  Although I’m not a fan of Britney Spears’ music, her new song “Work B**tch” goes along quite nicely with Aaron Paul’s character on Breaking Bad, Jesse Pinkman, tends to say quite often, and with varying amounts of enthusiasm.

Will Farrell Harry Caray Ho Hey Spoof Video

Growing up in Chicago without cable television, WGN was one of the few channels we had that was actually worth watching: where else could I watch Bloodsport three times a week and still catch a White Sox game live?  Yes, I am a White Sox fan, but I am indifferent when it comes to the playoffs – in other words, as long as someone from Chicago wins it I’m happy.  That being said, I did watch plenty of Cubs games growing up with the real Harry Caray behind the mic, and he was hilarious; I can’t tell you how many times I heard him call a routine fly ball “outta heyuh!” only it to land ten yards shy of the warning track.  The “ice-cold Budweiser” was always flowing in the WGN booth, and who better to impersonate the legend than another legend in Will Ferrell.  We all know and love Will’s SNL Harray Caray skits, but this is a gem of a spoof from earlier this year that is great to re-live: Will Farrell’s Harry Caray spoofed over the Lumineer’s “Hey Ho” sound.  Must-see TV!

Drone Videos: Meet the WildCat from Boston Dynamics

Now how cool is this beast?  Having worked with a few different drones from my recent time in the Marine Corps, I can definitely vouch for the huge value they bring to the battlefield; on that same token however, many of them also have significant shortfalls.  Although drones are making the biggest impact from the skies at this point, robots on the ground have been a huge help in the fight against IED’s (CIED).  Boston Dynamics has been at the forefront of ground-based robotics for the US military, and that four-legged gentleman who you see above is their latest and greatest creation: his name is WildCat, and you do not want to be in front of him when he starts a chargin’.  Check out the video, then hit the link below for our thoughts on if this guy is battlefield ready yet.

Business of Gaming: Meet Andrew Wilson, New EA CEO

The chief executive office is a position that gets a lot of flak, especially from those who haven’t really ventured into, or truly understand how the world of business, or leadership for that matter, really works.  They either choose not to, or simply can’t comprehend just how much responsibility and pressure sits on the CEO’s shoulders, and how much like every other leadership position, the work day doesn’t end when you go home for dinner.  You live and breathe the position, and you are always under the gun – internally, and externally as well.  Earlier today, gaming giant Electronic Arts, known for some of the biggest gaming franchises known to man, and also known for being one of the “worst gaming companies” (just Google it; that’s a different post in itself), just internally promoted Andrew Wilson to the head seat, and carry the EA flag into the future, and to new heights.  So just who is this guy, and probably the biggest question most gamers have on their minds: how much does this dude make?  Hit the link below for our full unclassified report.

Blizzard Ending Real Money Auction House in Diablo III

Earlier today, the fine folks from Blizzard’s Diablo III office published a gaming decision that once enacted – set to go in effect on March 18th, 2014 – will finally put a long-discussed, and highly controversial aspect of the game to rest: the gold and real money auction house, which was established this past June, will be shutting its doors and closing its operation for good.  Blizzard made their reasoning behind this decision pretty clear, stating “it ultimately undermines Diablo’s core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot.”  Hit the link below for more details, more intriguing quotes from the men and women behind the Diablo curtain, as well as our own, in-house, slightly qualified thoughts!

The Secret Lives of Dorks Movie Trailer

What will you be doing eleven days from now?  In just about a week and a half, a new high school comedy (yes, another one) will be hitting movie theaters, and just might turn out to be one of those diamonds in the rough.  The flick is called “The Secret Lives of Dorks”, and while you’ll probably have to Google the main cast, it does feature Jennifer Tilly, Mike Ditka (da Bears!), and the Jim Belushi.  I will tell you this: if you put a Belushi in a comedy film, I will seriously consider throwing down a few Lincolns at the theater to watch it on the big screen.  On top of that, and probably more importantly, the trailer actually made me laugh.  Enjoy the trailer, and hit the link below for our slightly qualified reaction and comments below!

RoboCop Movie Trailer

Raise your hand if you were around in 1987; most of you I am guessing weren’t.  I was, but I was only four years old, so the original RoboCop movie didn’t grace my eyes until the early to mid nineties when I witnessed the Paul Verhoeven film for the first time.  To call the series “successful” really depends on how you define the word: in the box office, RoboCop destroyed its competition, spawning two sequels that ended up in most folks’ VHS collections (or “LaserDisc”!).  Although some publications rate the original RoboCop as one of the greatest action films of all time, I have always thought it was pretty lame.  So here we go yet again, with the official trailer for RoboCop (otherwise known as RoboCop 4 in my opinion), starring Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, and Gary Oldman; enjoy the footage, and hit the link below for my trailer reaction below.

Kid Avoids Banana Peels, Drives Grandma to Safety

Grandma Driving - SlightlyQualified.com

Yes, I said banana peels.  Just over three weeks ago, a 10-year old gamer from Colorado was riding with this grandmother when she unexpectedly experienced a heart attack behind the wheel.  With his 4-year old little brother in the back seat of Grandma’s Buick sedan, Gryffin Sanders grabbed the steering wheel and calmly steered the speeding vehicle off the highway and into safety.  What does he credit for his successful driving skills?  Mario Kart.  Chalk one up for the “I told you video games are useful!” crowd.  Full awesome story below.

Video Games and Blanket Forts; Yes, Blanket Forts

Video Games and Blanket Forts Funny Picture - SlightlyQualified.com

Alright fellas, raise  your hand if you ever built a fort in your living room or basement when your buddies came over as a kid.  Yeah, we all did; ladies, many of you probably did the same.  We also probably both played a crap load of video games when we had our friends over.  Since I am now at the ripe age of 30 years, it was primarily the NES, then SNES, Sega Genesis and N64 which carried the bulk of the gaming load, with quite a bit of PC gaming in there as well, courtesy of the entire Command & Conquer franchise (which I dominated, naturally).  But when does the slumber party/fort building/male or female bonding go a little too far?  Oh, there are lots of ways; I won’t let your imagination stop running.  If you really want do laugh, or maybe shudder is a better word, then click below for the oddest slumber party/male bonding experience you will likely ever witness in your lifetime.
