Thankfully April Fools is over. We wrote yesterday just how much the Internet goes overboard nowadays for April Fools, but this lady just about one-upped all of the Interweb with her “joke” that landed “the Law” on her front porch somewhere in Hicksville, America.
Crytek USA Wants Darksiders Back
In just under two weeks, the Darksiders video game brand may very well be back home with its original development team, who at the time programmed under the Vigil Games flag. Crytek USA, the team’s new home, is most famous for its graphically stunning, hardware maxing FPS series, Crysis, which is now 3 games deep. Just last week Crytek USA CEO David Adams tweeted his emphatic desire to re-land the Darksiders IP:
Netflix Gets April Fools High Five
I swear, publishers on the Internet (not us) plan out their next April Fool’s fake content and parodies a year in advance, because they’re getting more and more elaborate. I am pretty sick of it all, and I’m at the point of annoyance when I check out my usual daily visits because now I’m wondering if it’s a joke or not. Just about every site is doing it, but kudos to Netflix for actually making me smile instead of frown. Have you logged into your Netflix account today? I just got home from my 9-5, and found a pretty cool Easter egg after a buddy at work told me about it. Hit the link below for the details, or just fire up your Netflix account if you want to jump straight to the spoilers.
The Wolverine Movie Trailer
I’ll admit, I was skeptical when Hollywood announced a Wolverine-only movie was in the works. After watching the official trailer for The Wolverine however, I am completely amped: it looks awesome. Maybe it’s the ninjas at the end, maybe it looks like Wolverine just got back from ‘Nam with that haircut (or lack thereof), or maybe it’s the dark, ominous tones in the trailer; whatever it is, this trailer does it for me. July 26, you’ll know where I’ll be, and you ain’t getting any of my Junior Mints.
GameStop Loses $270m in Fiscal 2012
GameStop continues to get dragged down financially by its physical retail presence, even as it continues to shift towards digital markets. Hardware, software, and even used sales all declined in 2012, and the only business category to show growth was GameStop’s “other” category, which covers those digital markets.
World War Z Movie Trailer
Summer is almost upon us, and that means its time for the Hollywood film studios to bombard us with preparatory fires for their upcoming “summer blockbusters”. Brad Pitt’s chance at summer fame will land on June 21st in the form of “World War Z”, which is a humanity’s-last-stand, apocaplytpic zombie free for all that is based off the famous Max Brooks novel with the same title. I’m not into the whole zombie craze, but I appear to be in the minority in this country as it seems every other show or movie out these days has something to do with zombies. Regardless, check out the trailer for World War Z, and post your comments below!
Best Leeroy Jenkins Pics
Leeroy Jenkins holds a special place in all of our hearts, whether you’re a gamer or not. Since his hilarious introduction almost 8 years ago in 2005, Leeroy has found himself mentioned on Jeopardy, on just about every news station, and still rocks Internet search requests today. Just recently here on SQ we featured an editorial on the stellar military reality show, “Inside Combat Rescue“, in which Leeroy Jenkins makes regular appearances. So with that being said, we thought it would be a perfect time to showcase some of the best photochops and memes from some of Leeroy’s biggest fans. Inside Combat Rescue with Leeroy Jenkins
Raise your hand if you think the United States Air Force has a special forces branch? If your hand is in the air, you are correct: the USAF does man a wing (no pun intended) in Special Operations Command, and their most notable asset is the Parajumpers, or “PJ’s”. As a former Marine and Afghan vet, I will be the first to stand up and vouch for the PJ’s (these guys aren’t your average Airman); they’re absolutely legit. Until now, the Air Force hasn’t allowed a peek into the PJ’s training or life on deployment, which is where National Geographic TV comes into play with their latest smash hit, “Inside Combat Rescue”. So what in the world does Leeroy Jenkins have to do with any of this? If you haven’t seen an episode, then you’ll have no idea; heck, if you’ve only seen one episode you may not have caught it either. Hit the link below for the answer, and also my slightly qualified thoughts on the importance of humor in the (combat) workplace.
Google Street View Car Rolls into Fukushima
My guess is driving into a radiation heavy, post nuclear zone would void the warranty on Google’s Street View car, but I don’t think they’re too worried about that. Google has made some serious news today by sending one of its Street View drone cars into a legitimate ghost town, Fukushima, Japan. For those of you who don’t know what I’m referring to, just “Google (should I have used Bing in a Google article?) Fukushima March 2011”, and you’ll have plenty to read up on. The pictures are pretty insane, and it shows just how life literally just stopped; no one was allowed back in to clean up streets, close doors, etc. Hit the link below for all the photos, courtesy of Google Japan Blog.

Bioware Releases Mass Effect 3 Stats
Mass Effect 3 will stand in the upper echelon of greatest RPG’s of all-time for generations to come, even if Bioware’s next franchise blows it away, and even with an arguably substandard ending. Yesterday everyone’s favorite game developer released a very cool infographic detailing worldwide Mass Effect 3 player stats, from choices, to general player patterns and trends. There are a ton of great talking points here, but one really stood out to me. Caress the link below to check the stats out, and see what caught our Slightly Qualified eye!
First Diablo 3 PS3 Footage Sizzles
I’ve been historically late to Blizzard games. In the late 90’s, this guy was obsessed with anything on store shelves with a “Command & Conquer” label, so Diablo 1 & 2 never made it on to my hard drive. Once Diablo 3 launched, I decided to buck the trend and grab a digital copy online, only to realize that my laptop may not make it a worthwhile purchase. Bummer. Thankfully, Starcraft 2 is fucking amazing, so I’m pretty happy about that one. Regardless, I’ll be picking up a copy of Diablo 3 for my PS3 the day or week it gets released, which to the best of my knowledge and Interweb research ability is still TBD. The footage looks awesome, and according to Blizzard, it “sizzles”! Hit the link below for the Diablo porn, and stay tuned to SQ for more Diablo 3 goodness!
Bioware Building a New Franchise
The fabled Mass Effect team up in Edmonton (eh, hoser!) is back to work, although this time they’re building an entirely new franchise. The exciting news came from the team’s Executive Producer, Casey Hudson, who stated the team is “building something new”, and the franchise will be based on “a whole new universe”. The news dropped just yesterday during a panel at the PAX East games conference in Austin, MA. Or was it Boston … ?
